It's possible that some element of windows may still be using/accessing the
folder. Try shutting down any or all programs that might possibly be using
it, or have recently used it, even Explorer, if you have it open.
Otherwise, I've found that sometimes the only way to get rid of a pesky
folder that refuses to delete is to wait until I restart the computer, then
try again. Sometimes, there are times I've deleted a folder, and windows
registers it as deleted, but yet it still shows up on screen for some reason,
so if I try to delete it again, naturally windows can't "find it". Perhaps
just refreshing your display might help, or perhaps trying to delete it from
within Windows Explorer itself (Navigate the tree to your Desktop Folder), or
as I've mentioned, restarting your computer, then coming back and trying to
delete it if it is still there. If this fails, and it still remains
stubborn, one last way I might recommend is to check for such a program which
can force delete stubborn files/folders. Check out
www.download.com and do a
search.
