Default Re: CRYPTUI.dll NOT FOUND...

2 things:

#1) I attempted to perform a REPAIR INSTALLATION to try and fix the problem
and NOTHING happened. Everything is exactly the same...the 'CRYPTUI.dll not
found' message comes up, where my desktop doesn't load.

#2) I tried Chas' recommendation...."Start>Run> sfc/scannow"
-Since I cannot log into Windows, I attempted to start in SAFE MODE
-when attempting SAFE MODE, I received the 'CRYPTUI.dll' message
again.
-I also attempted to run SAFE MODE w/COMMAND PROMPT
-the command prompt came up and I typed in 'sfc/scannow' and got
this:

:::Windows File Protection could not initiate a scan of protected
system files.
The specific error code is 0x0000006ba [The RPC server is
unavailable]:::

So, that's where I'm at right now. The above suggestion didn't work, and
the repair install didn't work. I cannot start Windows in SAFE MODE under
Administrator or my personal name.....

I don't want to lose any data either. Any suggestions? I'm not sure what
else I could possibly try.
