Hey Chas,
I really appreciate you sticking with me here.
When I said that nothing happened after the repair install....here's
what happened....
The Win XP Pro CD went through the repair install which took about 15
minutes. It said that everything was successful. Upon restarting my computer,
the same error message concerning CRYPTUI.dll came up. That's what I meant
when I said nothing happened...pertaining to the original issue still not
being resolved after attempting the repair install.
As for the sfc / scannow feature, I negelcted to put a space before and
after the sfc and scannow. The following then came up on my screen in cmd.exe:
-------------------------------------------
/SCANNOW
/SCANONCE
/SCANBOOT
/REVERT
/PURGECACHE
/CACHESIZE=x
(this was under SAFE MODE COMMAND PROMPT for starting up since I cannot
enter into WINDOWS under SAFE MODE....the following line appears...)
C:\Documents and Settings\Mike> *****here I typed /SCANNOW******
then received this message:
'/SCANNOW is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable
program or batch file.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So, that's where I'm at right now. I'd like to give this scan thing a try
and see if it does the trick. Any suggestions?
-Mike
