Lyndon,

So let's get this straight.
# "http:\\192.168.2.1" (from the browser) doesn't work.
# "ping 192.168.2.1" does work.
# "http:\\66.94.230.32" (one address for www.yahoo.com) doesn't work.
# "ping 66.94.230.32" does work.

What error does the browser display?

My guess is either the browser is borked, or you have an LSP / Winsock problem.
That can cause a myriad of symptoms, and yours is not too unlikely.
