For the local technician ask friends and family who they'd recommend. Avoid
the larger companies with high turn over rates (e.g.. GeekSquad) and find a
local handy-man type of service. At the other end of the spectrum don't
over-spend and get someone over-qualified for your task. In other words a
team of consultants isn't required for this though local access to the PC is
likely required. If I had bandwidth enough to do Remote Assistance or the
likes I'd offer to take a look as now I'm curious. Alternatively it could
just be that the drive is dorked.
