Default Re: Need Performance: Best Use of SATA Drive?

Why are you using Maxtor utilities to test a Seagate disk?
http://www.seagate.com/support/seatools/index.html

Your disk is from what I can ascertain from the Seagate site not a SATA
drive:
http://www.seagate.com/support/disc/...st380021a.html
http://www.seagate.com/support/disc/ata/st380021a.html

Try HD Tune (freeware). Download and run it and see what it turns up.
http://www.hdtune.com/

Select the Info tabs and place the cursor on C:\ under Drive letter
and then double click the two page icon ( copy to
Clipboard ) and copy into a further message.

Select the Health tab and then double click the two page icon ( copy to
Clipboard ) and copy into a further message.

Hope this helps.
