More RAM will help - you need at least 512MB for acceptable performance. But more RAM will do little good if you have a slow hard disk, so you'll need a faster hard disk. But even then you're still dealing with a slow processor and video subsystem. Check out the cost of upgrading and you'll see it's not worth it. Get used to be slow. You can help yourself by turning off as many of XP's visual effects as you can, and using older software.
