I ended up scrubbing and reloading, which unfortunately made it worse. Now there are 4 drivers that are unavailable: ethernet controller, multimedia audio controller, sm bus controller, video controller. Since I'm unable to access the internet using the problem machine, I'm unable to download drivers directly, but I can download to cd r/w disk. Any other suggestions? Thanks again.
