I have a Panasonic PV GS31 connected via USB 2.0

I am able to capture video but, there's a couple of issues:

-When I select Configure\Video Settings I'm limited in size to 320x240.
-On the Video Setting screen I am unable to select DV-AVI (the radio button
is grayed out)
-My device is listed as USB Video device (not Panasonic etc...)
-At the video capture screen I understand there are supposed to be buttons
below the preview pane for controlling my camera. None present?

I have not tried to use a firewire connection is it possible that is
required for these functions?
