John & Galen,
After restarting I was still denied the rights to alter the files. One of
the tools GiiPo@moveonboot was also supposed to remove the files on reboot,
but didn't. Before restrating in safe mode, I first tried taking ownership of
the files as you suggested and the problem was resolved.
