Photo copy from camera keeps stopping
My situation:
I just installed WIN XP and tried to use the photo feature to download
pictures from my camera, an Olympus.
- When I plug in via USB, XP recognizes that I've plugged it in and gives me
the various options for what program to launch to access photos.
- I choose the first option, to select the photos (all) and copy from the
camera as if from a USB drive.
- It starts out OK, but when I click to start the copy, it seems to copy
only one photo at a time and then stops.
- I click try again, it seems to copy one photo at a time, but in the end,
there's nothing copied to the selected folder (simply "my pictures" in "My
Docs").
- The trouble occurs whether I use the camera on battery power, or plugged
in to the wall for power via adapter. Indicator light flickers on camera to
show it's reading the memory and attempting to copy, but then stops
regularly.
Q1: As it's a fairly new install, I could try installing XP again. But is
there an easier way to fix this?
Q2: Such as - should I try deleting the USB driver related to the camera and
try plugging in again via USB?
This is disappointing, to hear the hype about XP's advanced, easy methods
for handling transfer of photo images from cameras, and then to have trouble
the first time.
Q3: For those of you who have more experience in this forum, might you
recall a thread you could direct me to that deals with tweaking XP and
troubleshooting in such a situation?
Thanks.
