I would not worry about the OS install, but uninstalling and
reinstalling the camera software _exactly as directed_ might
fix your problem.

I, myself, never use software that ships with cameras. I use
a media reader (USB-attached) and move the flash memory card
from whichever camera I'm using to the reader, then drag-and-
drop from the "disk" that shows up to whatever folder(s) I
wish to put them in.

Camera software tends to be quirky and unreliable, as well as
more intrusive than I care for.
