I can vouch for this working with a broadband connection but I
don't know if it will work with your dialup connection. That
said, you might want to give it a shot:

On the remote computer, go to Start -> Run and enter the
following in the Open box:

tscon.exe 0 /dest:console

Click OK.

You'll see a message on the local computer about the session
being disconnected. Click OK. Close the RD window.

What this does is restore the remote computer to the state it
was in before you made the RD connection. The Welcome Screen is
not displayed. It goes right back to the desktop.
