Seem like you have to notify them whenever you need access. If you are able
connect then the problem is not with the router or any of your settings. You
said you can connect with their help so they might be giving users access on
a needs basis. Speak to the admin about the situation. Google "connecting
with vnc" to get a better idea of what it is and does.
