If it's a digital camcorder, then firewire is the way to go.

If it's an analog camcorder, then neither.... you'll have to get a PMCIA
capture card or a USB capture device.

Analog capture I've used.... Roxio Videowave (included in Roxio's Easy Media
Creator), Nero, Intervideo's WinDVD Creator v2 and Cyberlink's
PowerDirector. Although I have Adobe's Premiere, I use it very rarely.
