I am having the same problem except I'm not getting an error message when I
reinstall sndvol32. The sound works fine, just no tray icon. Enabling the
check mark does no good. Reinstalling the file does no good. Does this have
anything to do with installing SP2? That's the only change I made to my
configuration.
