I wonder if anyone can shed any light!?

I have XP Home and everytime i try to run games they install fine but then
after a short period of time the screen goes completly black and i cant seem
to do anything else.. i cant even see the cursor.
If i Ctrl Alt Delete the task manager says the game is running!

Please Help!
