DOS-mode programs are not guaranteed to run under NT-based versions of
Windows, especially if the DOS application wants direct hardware access
which the NT kernel will not permit.

Try cleaning the CD or using a scratch remover. See if you can copy the
files from the CD onto the hard drive and run it from there (but a
copy-protected game will still want to read the CD). Maybe you need to
clean the laser lens inside the CD drive.
