Thanks. Seems I was getting Playlists and Track Lists confused.

I've since discovered that when I burn a CD using WMP that it remembers
not only the tracklist, but the album and artist name as well so can
identify the CD in the drive which is what I would like to do for CDs
burned in another app.

As I said in my original post, it remembers the tracklist I enter but
insists on naming the album 'Unknown Album (dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm:ss)' - the
timestamp being to used to guarantee a unique "unlnown" name I guess. Is
there no way to edit the album name? It would be a shame if this isn't
possible - an oversight by MS perhaps? - as it does everything else.
