Recommended by whom?

Fundamental, yes. Basic, no. This stuff gets complex. High level library
stuff gets rocket-science-y pretty quickly.

Let's clarify: who should to do this? This isn't the out-of-the-box answer,
and I'm betting you didn't find that information on a Microsoft site. If
you're going to blame Microsoft for me providing work-arounds for errors on
your system, I respectfully have to ask you to not visit my site because
you're completely misunderstanding what I'm trying to do and how I'm trying
to help people. =)

Yeah, there's lots of interesting articles out there about the technical and
innovation ramifications of a closed locked-in ecosystem (Apple's approach)
vs an open ecosystem (Microsoft's approach). It'll be interesting to see it
play out over time - the closed system usually has the strategic advantage
at the starting gate, but theoretically fades comparatively as those in the
more open ecosystem are able to establish a more vibrant ecosystem. We'll
see how things play out. =)
Anyways, it looks like you're uncomfortable with community/peer support.
You should contact actual technical support:

as opposed to taking advice from us knuckle-heads. =)
