I'm not familiar with MHT files. When I try to "save as" that is not an
option. None of the options look close - might it also be called something
else? I have Word 2003 as part of Office 2003.

Easiest way to handle it might be to save the Word doc as a mht file, then
attach the mht file to your correspondence. Should work as it does here.
Just click on the pull down tab under File type when saving the document in
Word and change it to MHT.
