Unfortunately for me, that is how I have my Automatic Updates
configured, but I also see nothing happen after I download the
updates. When I get the notification of updates, I elect to download
them. A little later I realize that there was never a request for me
to install them. If I manually go to Windows Update, the updates are
still listed as available, and if I elect to download them, I do get
the request to install after the download is complete. Running
Windows XP Pro SP2.

I do have a laptop with Windows XP Home set the same, and it works
without a problem. After notification, I elect to download; after
download I get the request to install. All works as it should.
