Default Re: How To Fix Windows Update (BITS/AU) - Newly Edited With More Info

You receive an "Initialization error 0x800A1391" error message and the Windows Update
Web site does not appear
http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;836961

Also check for the presence of malware on the system. Go here to have it scanned :
http://www.auditmypc.com/freescan/prefcan.asp

Here for the preliminary steps in removing the malware, if found on the system :
http://www.aumha.org/a/quickfix.htm

Posted by another user:
For ZoneAlarm, go into the privacy tab and add update.microsoft.com under the site
list tab and enable mobile codes for only this one.
This will allow Active X to be run, which is required for Windows Update to run
successfully.
