Default RE: Update installation fails

Yes, Harold, I believe that we're closing in on the source of the
problem....let's see if we can get it resolved! :-)
Give this a try.....

Go to Start>Run and key in:
regsvr32 wintrust.dll
Click on OK or hit ENTER
Click on OK in the Regsvr dialogue box

Go to Start>Run and key in:
regsvr32 initpki.dll
Click on OK or hit ENTER
Click on OK in the Regsvr dialogue box

Go to Start>Run and key in:
regsvr32 softpub.dll
Click on OK or hit ENTER
Click on OK in the Regsvr dialogue box

Go to Start>Run and key in:
regsvr32 cryptdlg.dll
Click on OK or hit ENTER
Click on OK in the Regsvr dialogue box

Go to Start>Run and key in:
regsvr32 mssip32.dll
Click on OK or hit ENTER
Click on OK in the Regsvr dialogue box

Restart the computer, then see if you can successfully start BITS. If so,
then try Windows Update and see if you can now successfully download and
install.
