Plug in your MP3 player.
In Windows Explorer right-click the MP3 player (assuming it appears as a
drive in Windows) and select Properties.
Then select the Hardware tab and finally the Policies tab.
Look at the setting 'Write caching and Safe Removal'.
If 'Optimize for quick removal' is selected then you do not need to use the
Safe Removal icon for the MP3 player.
If however the setting is 'Optimize for performance' then change it to
'Optimize for quick removal' and do away with the need for the Safe Removal
procedure.
