And by-the-way, I KNOW rebuilding the OS will fix your problem, but this
is an XP issue, not hardware (based on this string of info.). Really,
MS needs to get a SOLID patch for this error! Rebuilding the OS may
only give access to the CD Roms temporarily if in fact the OS
identifies scratches on a Disk and resorts back to PIO or the fact that
the registry gets out of whack! In 2 builds I'm aware of the situation
is similar. One disks ask to "Place disk in drive D" and one other
situation is that the drive acts like it accepts the CD, but when you
click on the Drive to see the contents, nothing can be seen. But try
those links I've requested and if you have success, respond!
