Default Need Quick Launch Button To Open in NEW Window

In IE6, when I click an INTERNET shortcut button on my Quick Launch bar it
doesn't open in a new window. Instead it activates a new button on my Task
Bar which I then have to click to open the window.

On the other hand, when I click a shortcut button on my Quick Launch bar to
open an APPLICATION (such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.) they each open in
a new and separate window.

Is there a way to have my INTERNET shortcuts each open in a NEW window like
the applications do? I've tried the Tools > Internet Options > Advanced >
Reuse Windows for Launching Shortcuts method but don't particularly like it -
I want to launch shortcuts in a new window.

Hoping someone in this group can help because even our IT Tech Dept. can't
answer this one for me.

Thanks!!

Go to Tools | Internet Options | Advanced.
Uncheck "Reuse windows for launching shortcuts".

Also, if you have Yahoo Companion, Google toolbar, MSN toolbar, a firewall,
Earthlink (or another pop-up blocker) My IE2 (a shell for IE) etc.
Yahoo Companion is a very common cause.

You'll have to turn off the feature that's blocking new windows or, perhaps,
uninstall the program (especially uninstall Yahoo Companion).

With some programs of this type, using Ctrl+click or Shift+click will allow
a new window.

If you're *sure* that another program isn't causing this, these links may
help.

Just drag and drop your IE shortcut from your quick launch bar (on your
windows task bar) to the desktop to make a copy. Right click on the shortcut
to display and adjust its properties.

You can use a command parameter to make IE open up in a new window

iexplore.exe -new

copy and paste the above into your Addressbar (on your windows taskbar) to
see it work
