Is there a way to tell IE6 to create a log of errors that occurred while I
was browsing the web? TIA. Bill S. |

Hi Bill,
On the Internet Options Control Panel, on the Advanced tab there is an option to 'Display a notification about every script error'. Select this option. When an error occurs a dialog will appear with the current error and an option to scroll through all previous errors. Depending on your OS, also the Computer Management console has system and application error logs. Bills reply received by email.
Thanks for the info. I tried what you said and that works. I have Win98SE on this PC, so I dont have the Console you mentioned. For OutlookExpress6 (connecting to mail and news servers) you can tell it to record a log file for the session. After that I do a search for files named *.log to find the log file created. But apparently they don't provide a feature like that for IExplore6. I think it would be instructive to see what that kind of file has in it. But apparently there's no way to get one recorded. Thanks again. Bill S. Rob,
Thanks for the update. Bill could install (or enable- it may be installed) the Error Reporting tool. 276550 - Description and Availability of Internet Explorer Error Reporting Tool: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=276550 When an error occurred, clicking on Details should provide complete information. There would also be a log file created, dw.log, probably/possibly at [C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\dw.log] This log file only provides the most basic information, such as: Microsoft Internet Explorer Application Failure iexplore.exe 6.0.2800.1106 in unknown 0.0.0.0 at offset 30001b00 Don [MS MVP- IE] "Rob Parsons" <iecustomizer[at]hotmail.com> wrote in message news:uXbUslX7FHA.2092@TK2MSFTNGP12.phx.gbl... > Bills reply received by email. > Thanks for the info. > I tried what you said and that works. Thanks Don,
I'm about to swap partitions to get rid of this problem I'm having and I will try the reporting tool after that. The problem is I'm having really slow loading of https pages from eBay. I don't know what's causing it but i'm going to overwrite the present boot partition with one I archived about a month ago. Then I will try your suggestion. Bill S.
