Hi All,
I am facing a peculiar issue with IE. I guess it could be a known issue. One of our applicaiton extensively uses Office XP/2000 Web components to display the excel output in the form of Pivot table or chart etc. The web interfaces provide rich features to sort, filter etc. Most recently the users are complaining that IE terminates abruplty whenever they attempt to view the reports. We are working on environment with IE 6.0 SP2 on XP SP2 machines with Office XP/2000 Web Components installed. Usually these machine would have office 2003 on their desktop so, we just instruct to install only XP/2000 web Components. I am able to repro this issue on several boxes. Initially I thought it could be due to Add-ons that are hosted on box but I tried this on a clean, newly built machine as well and IE aborts/terminates abruptly there as well. Is this a known issue? Any work around? Is it because of Office XP/2000 Web components not being able to integrate with IE Add-ons that are already installed on box. We cannot control the users not allowing the IE Add-ons. Any help on this would be highly appreciated. Thanks, Srini |

Hi Srini,
I don't have the environment to reproduce your problems, but to test if there is a conflict with IE Add-ons is easy. Just disable 'Third party browser helpers' on the Advanced tab in Internet Options. You may also have a better response from the Office newsgroups as this seems to be the vein of your problems. Hi Rob,
Thanks for your advise. I'll try out by unchecking "Enable Third-Party Browser Extensions" on one of my test machine where I am repro this issue and see that it helps me. I would appreciate if you can give me some deeper inputs on why this strange behavior of IE. Is this a known issue with IE? I could see a work around of this odd behavior on microsoft.com but it doesn;t really help in any form. Thanks once again!! Regards, Srini.
