Links that I've already visited either don't change from blue to purple, or that they don't retain the purple, but change back to blue after a day or so. It's annoying to find that I'm frequently revisiting Web sites that I've already visited.
I've searched this topic on Google but have not found an answer that works. I've got my Windows XP Pro IE6 color settings (Tools > Internet Options > Colors) set and History (Tools > Internet Options > History) set to 30 days. I don't know of any other way to address this problem. Can anyone help? Thanks! Frank D |

Thank you for your reply.
The suggestions I found at these sites center on deleting the History folder, index.dat, and the Temporary Internet Files folder. I did all these things, downloading programs, going to Safe Mode and DOS and rebooting where necessary. Unfortunately, there has been no change. Some links change to the visited color (purple) and others stay blue, as if they were not visited. To be specific, the links I'm using to experiment with are on the Google News page, at http://news.google.com. Any other possibilities? Thanks! Check that your browser is not using a User Stylesheet:
Tools -> Internet Options -> General Tab -> Accessibility. For normal (standard) viewing _nothing_ should be checked in these sections. Be sure that all boxes are unchecked! Try disabling any third-party security and/or privacy programs you have running (Norton Internet Security, etc.) See also: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/298931/en-us "How to Disable Third-Party Tool Bands and Browser Helper Objects". -- Vincenzo Di Russo Microsoft® MVP - Most Valuable Professional Windows - Internet Explorer 2003/2004/2005 My home: http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ My Blog: http://blogs.dotnethell.it/vincent/ Frank D wrote: > Thank you for your reply. > > The suggestions I found at these sites center on deleting the History > folder, index.dat, and the Temporary Internet Files folder.
