Default Multiple problems

Here is the situation: Friend's computer. I told him I would clean it up for
him. Can't print from IE and going to print preview locks IE up. Going to
Help>>About IE shows no version number or other info. Won't load Windows
Update site. Going to PC Pitstop I can't test the system because it says
Scripting is not enabled but I have checked andit is. I have uninstalled IE
and reinstalled it. Still no help. Firefox will print and scripts will run.
Any help would be appreciated. Please email me @ fatesjoke03@yahoo.com with
any help. I have installed all updates to XP and have ran Tune-up Utilities
and CCleaner to check for registry errors. Has been defragged and DiscClean
has been ran. I know it's not likely to be related but it has been done.
Thanks in advance.
