I am using Windows 2000 (5.00.2195) Service Pack 4 with Internet Explorer 6.0.
When attempting to use Java Runtime Environment (Version 5.0, update 5)
in JAVA enabled websites or if trying to access the JAVA control panel; my
PC stops
responding and I get a blue screen displaying the following message:

*** STOP: 0X00000050(0XFEA7B7D0,0X00000000,0XBB44B5A2,0X0000 0000)
PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

The problem began after my virus software quarantined a virus that was found
in JAVA and although I have since re-installed the JAVA Runtime Environment
from a new installation, this has not helped. I would greatly appreciate
some advice.

Hi Chris,
Usually your anti-virus software will be able to give you instructions on
how to remove the infection (r u using Nortons? There should be a link on
the quantiened file). You can also visit Nortons or Trend Micro to research
their libraries for instructions.

Someone else who has experienced the problem may be able to give you better
advice.
