I have a question about the search engines. I'm having problems getting my
search engine to change to yahoo. What I always do most of the time when I search for something is just type the word in the address bar where you would normally put the url. Tonight when I went to go to a website I typed in the url and it took me to the aol search page and it had the site listed that I wanted to go to but when I click on the link on there it just takes me to the aol search page again. We've never had Aol search . We've always had it do yahoo search when we typed in the address bar for a search. What would make it take you to a search page when you type the websites url in . We did just install Aim back in but thought for sure we didn't check to make t our default search engine. How do you change the search engines so it don't do that? If anyone know it'd be great help and I'm really appreciate it a lot. Thank you, Kirs |

Hi Kirs,
Aim has hijacked your search settings for IE. There are two things you can try to recover your previous settings to the Yahoo search engine. 1. Tools>Internet Options - on the Programs tab you will find a button to 'Reset Web Settings' - this may restore your search settings (it depends on how devious Aim was in changing IE's settings.) 2. You may like to download and install the Yahoo search toolbar. http://toolbar.yahoo.com Warning-Once you install this bar it will reset your default IE search settings to Yahoo providers, almost making it impossible to 'Reset Web Settings' the factory default settings for IE. Thanks I tried that and it still does it and it also gives me a can not be
displayed page with some sites like www.bravenet.net. I just don't know how to fix this. I need to update and redo a website and can get there to do it. If you have any other idea's how to fix it let me know. Thank you for your time, Kirs |
