The first time I click on the down arrow to get the drop down list of
recently viewed web addresses, it takes 30 seconds for the list to display. From then on the response is normal. Any ideas what might be causing this? Perhaps related, I must type "http://" whenever I enter a web address. If I don't there appears to be a 45 second delay before the page is loaded. I have verified the registry is correct for url prefix. This is getting real frustrating. Thanks for any help you might be able to offer. XP Home Edition, SP2, have run ccleaner, hijack this, spy sweeper and am current on virus protection. Brian |

When I checked the internet options auto complete for webpages was already
checked. I went to the registry and autocomplete was set to no and autosuggest was set to yes. I reveresed those, went back to internet options where autocomplete for webpages was now not checked. I checked it, replied OK, restarted my machine and it appears to be working now. My first attempt to look at the history drop down list was fast. Thanks! My other problem is still there though I now have another option. If I type "http://www.whatever.com" in the address window and press enter, the page pops up almost immediately. If I type "whatever.com" in the address window and press ctrl enter, it also comes up fast. But if I type "www.whatever.com" there is a 45 second delay in the page loading. Any ideas? Thanks so much for your help.
