Have you been messing around in your BIOS or have your machine overclocked? If so go to standard. How many memory modules do you have? How much memory do you have? Try removing/reseating them or swapping the positions round. Try different modules or one on its own if possible. |

All the memory is what came in it originally 2 years ago, I have only added a
graphics card and soudblaster card and that was over a year ago and no messages all this time time until now. No overclocking I would not know how to do that and no new memory added "ed" wrote: > > "Keath" <Keath@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > news:82AEDAC6-3009-4BB4-89DC-7A3769143CEF@microsoft.com... > >I get the following message now > > The instruction at "0x078f454d referenced memory at "0x78f454d" The > > moemory > > could not be read. > > click ok to termnate the program. > > > > I neve saw this before until the last month > > Possibly a hardware problem. IIRC this (wild branch to unaddressable memory) is a symptom of DLL Hell caused by people installing third-party programs which installed their own version of common .dll. Unfortunately the most common cases happened so long ago that precise likely details are not fresh in my mind and of course since the crash address is random it is impossible to search for details that way. If you want to try to diagnose this you are going to have to be more forthcoming with details. Essentially the same analysis as that suggested by Frank is required but with a slightly different hypothesis: instead of malware I posit broken third-party program installation procedures. If you don't want to diagnose this but have installed new things recently (in any fashion) which have uninstall procedures try uninstalling them to see if your symptom changes. Good luck Robert Aldwinckle --- |
