Hope someone can help me. I am having a problem viewing IE6 windows when I
launch a new window from a IE6 window by right clicking on a link and chose "open in new window" What happens is the new window opens but I can not bring the original window to the front so I can see it even though it becomes the active window. I either have to move other windows out of the way or minimize them or delete them so I can see the original window. this becomes a pain when using a search engine such as Google because I like to hold the search results in one window while I open new widows from those results links. The funny thing is that it only happens in one of the three user accounts I set up on this computer. The other 2 accounts behave correctly. I am thinking is may be some user setting that I changed in this account but for the life of me I can't find anything having to do with controlling the windows. Any one have any idea? |

Hi,
Start with this article: New program window appears behind all other open windows http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=886217 Then... From Control Panel> Internet Options> Advanced> uncheck "Enable third party browser extensions." With IE6 [XP] SP2, go to Tools> Manage add-ons and disable non-Microsoft add-ons. If either of those steps helps, you need to find the troublesome extension, BHO, add-on or program and disable it or change settings. Hope this helps, Don [MS MVP- IE] "Terry Locke" <terry.locke[at]comcast.net> wrote in message news:g4KdnXilyukuahreRVn-uw@comcast.com... > Hope someone can help me. Yes... that page explains BHO's very well. Not all BHOs are bad, but even a
legitimate (good) BHO can cause problems. Hi Terry,
Did you resolve your foreground window problem? I am just wondering as it has recently happened to me... By any chance are you using the MSN Search toolbar with tabbed browsing? Thanks for pointing it out. This seems to have finally resolved some problems that I have had with dialogs appearing which don't have keyboard focus, which I guess must be a related problem. I have no idea how to reproduce the OP symptom. I have had it too occasionally but too intermittently to know for sure yet if this change will have affected it too. Robert Aldwinckle --- |
