When I shutdown my computer sometimes I get the message "explorer exe program
not responding". Is this something to to do with Internet explorer and how
do I fix it.

Explorer.exe is the Windows Explorer, IExplore.exe is the Internet Explorer.
The same happens on my machine occasionally when I have had alot of programs
running. It is nothing unusual and is usually caused by some other program
and not the Windows Explorer. Just press the End Now button and continue
with the shut down. But it is always a good idea to have protection from the
nasties if you are surfing the net and to keep your machine up-to-date with
the latest windows updates.
