Default activex is driving me crazy

Hi,
Nothing that uses activex controls will download. It is nothing in the
security settings, I've tried modifying all of that several times, and ended
up leaving it at default levels. I do get the yellow info bar, but when I
click install, nothing happens. I tested at pc pitstop and I got the message
that activex is not supported. This has been going on for some time now. I
did contact microsoft, and the tech was on the phone with me for about 2 hrs
until my phone battery died. Nothing worked. In addition to having the
activex problem, parts of webpages won't display. This started happening
after I installed sp2 for windows xp. I am super frustrated. I'm thinking
something might be wrong with my registry. Please, if you offer help, you are
talking to a basic user.
Help me please!
Emily

Follow the instructions here. Different issue, same fix. I'm betting that
by the time you complete the regsvr commands things will be working for you.
