Default Where is the 'address suggestions' 'pop up' list?

I can clear history and temp files etc, but find that even when one has
cleared the drop down list of typed addresses, numerous hints still pop up
when one tries to type a new address. What is this list properly called;
where is it kept; can it be cleared?

Regards,

SteveH

Hi,

There are some of them in the registry: Start, Run, REGEDIT. Do a Find for
TypedURLs. You can delete what you see in the right window.

Kind regards

on your toolbar go to Internet Options, then click on the Content tab, go to
the AutoComplete button..that's what it's called when your are able to type
in just a couple of letters and the'suggestions' popup.
Anyway, click on the AutoComplete and clear the check mark from all web
forms, addresses and then click on the button for clear forms.. You will see
that you will also be able to clear passwords if you want. When that's
done, go back to the General tab and clear history again.

Thanks for the two distinct alternatives Hans and Ivee:

I had not paid much attention to these addresses until, after a visit to my
bank's site - in which I used 'their' search for local branch details
option - I found that every time I typed 'multimap' many links to my bank
appeared, because they had used multimap to provide the info!

Following Hans' suggestion I have deleted a couple of the typed urls from
the registry, but the addresses that pop up are not actually typed: they
seem to have been generated by using click to search facilities, or links on
web sites.

So I would still like to know where these links are held (in the registry?),
as I would like to clear the offending ones without having to lose more
useful and less sensitive ones if at all possible.

Thanks to all,

SteveH

Additional info:

Thought to use Hans' idea to search registry for 'multimap'. This did not
find anywhere where the pop up address suggestions were stored (it did find
my 'pop ups allowed' sites - so that's another thing I've discovered - ta
Hans). So where are they?

What it also found was that multimap.com has its own folder under Internet
Settings/Zone Map/Domains. The rest of this list seems to be almost
entirely populated with 'adult' folders! Surprised, as I thought I cleared
out such junk when I use AdAware and Spybot? What is the purpose of this
'Domains' folder and can the rubbish ones be deleted? If this is an
indication of the state of the rest of the registry, can it be safely
cleaned of all the rubbish, and if so how?

Thanks,
SteveH
