Default IE Wont Open

I have been working on a friends computer that has numerous spyware/malware
problems. I have run both MS anti-spware and Ad-Aware a couple of times to
try and clean it up. With each session IE acted differently until finally IE
wouldnt open at all. I receive the message "internet explore has encountered
a problem and needs to close". I have restored items that the spyware
programs have removed and even uninstalled IE and did a fresh install from MS
but still not having any luck getting IE to open.

Any ideas on next steps?...Thanks!

Hi,
It's likely that there are still malware files present. The malware removal
programs can't remove everything.

First try BHODemon from http://www.definitivesolutions.com/bhodemon.htm to
disable legitimate and questionable Browser Helper Objects. If a BHO or
add-on isn't causing the problem, you should download HijackThis and submit
a log to one of these sites for analysis.

Look for the proper forum and an "Important- Read This First" message so
that you follow proper procedure.

Or...
A legitimate program running in the background may be causing this. Disable
(for diagnostic purposes) programs such as pop-up blockers, security,
toolbars and other add-ons for IE, anti-virus, etc. Take a look at any
program that might be interfering with IE. You may have to reinstall, or not
reinstall, a program.
