For some reason my history folder started keeping track of everything I view
on "My Computer". It used to not do this. Now in my history folder there are all the sites I've been to and all the files I've accessed on "My Computer" in a folder called "My Computer". If I delete the folder "My Computer", it deletes all my history for the day. Can someone help me to get my computer back to the way it was? Please? I tried the history eraser and everything worked fine until a few hours later, something happened, I have no idea what happened, other than I opened my web editing software, this is when I noticed the problem started. My web editing software has never done this before. Now it doesn't matter what file I open on my computer, whether it be a website file, or .jpg file it shows up in my internet history. How can I fix it? |

Hi,
This is normal behavior. It's not related to your web editing program and I don't think that you can stop the My Computer folder from appearing and being populated. You can delete all items in the History\My Computer folder without losing other history items. If you delete the My Computer folder, it will be recreated. You might like this freeware program which can be configured to clear history when the last browser window is closed: IE Privacy Keeper from http://browsertools.net/IE-Privacy-Keeper/index.html Hope this helps, Don [MS MVP- IE] "777" <777[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:30C68A76-1641-43D5-97BD-36018256995B@microsoft.com... > For some reason my history folder started keeping track of everything I view > on "My Computer". So, can the items in the History/My Computer folder be safely deleted? Or is
this anything to worry about as far as internet security and someone seeing the files I've accessed on 'My Computer"? I like to keep my history because I use it daily to visits the sites I've visited the day before. Thanks for your reply! "Don Varnau" wrote: > Hi, > This is normal behavior. Hi,
Yes, those history items can be deleted. As to security- anyone with access to your user account on that machine can see these and other history/mru lists. General security issues: Microsoft Security at Home http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/default.mspx Wireless networks: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q...twork+security Don [MS MVP- IE] "777" <777[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:55875D92-BBEA-4B0D-B859-341CF7A7EAEB@microsoft.com... > So, can the items in the History/My Computer folder be safely deleted?
