Like we are unaware of Firefox 1.5?
I already have it and Netscape 8.0.1
There are other browsers too...
So what?
This is a newsgroup concerning Internet Explorer
Whether you like it or not, the fact is one needs Internet Explorer
if for nothing else, then for getting Windows Updates.
Claiming that installing Firefox 1.5 is a cure all for everything is misleading.
One also must make sure that the system is protected from
viruses, worms, spyware, adaware, etc.
This can best be accomplished by making sure that up to date
Firewall, Anti Virus, and Anti Spyware programs are installed and
properly implemented and maintained.
Are you running a Microsoft Operating System?
I find your post to be immature and ignorant.

On 64-bit windows, 64-bit internet explorer CAN NOT run Macromedia Flash,
but I can run it in Mozilla Firefox.

On my PC, IE loads in 1 second, FF1.5 in 2.

On my PC, IE loads www.microsoft.com in 3 seconds, FF1.5 loads it in 2.

Perhaps your evaluation was hasty?

Actually IE in Windows x64 is 32- or 64-bit.

The fact that it comes with both makes it difficult to keep them
straight --- when they're running I think the only difference is the icon is
slightly discolored in each

It takes me 1.5 seconds to open firefox (I just timed it).

The problem is you already have internet explorer loaded if you have Windows
loaded. For example, Click Start then My Computer, at the top it should say
"Address : My Computer". If it doesn't right click and select to show
address on top. OK, now click where it says "My Computer" next to address
and replace it with http://www.msn.com .. Yep, that's internet explorer
doing everything for you, from showing you your desktop to showing you "My
Computer" even to showing you :"Control Panel" or your printers. Internet
explorer already took 30 seconds to load when your computer booted up.
