I just did a re-format and re-install of XP. I saved my favorites onto
a CDR. Where do I put that folder so it will show up in IE6 favorites? I tried putting the backed up folder into Documents and Settings/All Users, Default Users And Owner but when I start IE and go to favorites, they are not there. there. My Favorites folder has many sub-folders. |

Just copy the contents of the backed-up Favorites folder to the
present one. Don't copy the folder itself. The Favorites folder should be in %USERPROFILE%\Favorites i.e. mine is C:\Documents and Settings\Alan Edwards\Favorites If you have something wrong, then check the Registry: You can change the value of Favorites in the Registry in these two keys: (ignore the second if the value is not there) HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders For Windows 2000/XP: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders] Set the Favorites path to : %USERPROFILE%\Favorites The above should be a REG_EXPAND_SZ value, not REG_SZ Ref: http://windowsxp.mvps.org/IEFAQ.htm#favorites http://windowsxp.mvps.org/usershellfolders.htm ....Alan -- Alan Edwards, MS MVP Windows -Internet Explorer http://dts-l.org/index.html On Thu, 08 Dec 2005 20:56:37 -0500, Tarkus <tarkus@comcast.net> wrote: >I just did a re-format and re-install of XP. I hate to mess with the registry. Anything else I can try? Thanks for your help. >Just copy the contents of the backed-up Favorites folder to the >present one. You may not want to mess with the Registry but you can at least look
and see if it is correct for the one of the three you want to use. ....Alan -- Alan Edwards, MS MVP Windows - Internet Explorer http://dts-l.org/index.html On Thu, 08 Dec 2005 22:21:47 -0500, Tarkus <tarkus@comcast.net> wrote: >Problem is I already replaced all 3 favorites folder with the backup. >I hate to mess with the registry.
