My internet explorer is gone and I can neither find or re-sintall it.
If I try to re-install it, I got a mesage that I already have it. When I look in the Program Files/Internet Exporer, I don't see it either. I use Windows XP. Please help. Thank you. |

Hi,
Please see my reply to VR. If that doesn't help with your problem, please reply with any additional information you can provide- what happens or doesn't happen? Any error messages? - - Don [MS MVP- IE] "Chris L" <Chris L[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:2D008BB5-06EA-4015-BC2A-03ACC6915B4C@microsoft.com... > I have the same problem, except that the iexplore.exe file is still right > where it belongs. Hi,
Attempts to uninstall IE6 from XP don't uninstall the program but do remove access to IE. Try this: Go to Control Panel> Add/remove programs> Add/remove Windows components> put a check by IE. OK your way out. Restart. You may also have to go into "Set program access & defaults" and make choices regarding "Default" and "Enable access." You may also have to go into Display properties> Desktop> Customize to check IE under Desktop icons. Hope this helps, Don [MS MVP- IE] "VR" <myself_ya[at]yahoo.com> wrote in message news:1134406828.164853.160670@g43g2000cwa.googlegr oups.com... > My internet explorer is gone and I can neither find or re-sintall it. > If I try to re-install it, I got a mesage that I already have it. I'm using Windows XP SP2 and I believe IE6. When I click on the IE icon or
go to Start|Run and type iexplore.exe the hourglass cursor will appear for about 3 seconds, and then nothing at all happens. The hourglass turns back into a regular cursor. I was beside myself with frustration and anxiety until a few minutes ago because I thought I might have to do a re-install of Windows XP. But then it occurred to me to log on to my PC on another user account. When I did that and clicked on the IE icon, it opened fine! So I assume it's a problem only with my user profile? I've always had Zone Alarm Pro, including its anti-spyware component, and
also do regular anti-virus scans with Norton Anti-Virus. In addition, I just ran McAfee's anti spyware program and detector, which found nothing in its scan. Also, I have had no other symptoms of spyware or other malware. So I gotta believe it's something else.
