I keep getting the same two error messages now for the past 10 days. IE has
encountered a problem and has to close, then I get the message that it is not responding. I usually have to go to the task manager to close. Then I get the message that I choose to close a nonresponsive IE. I'm usually taken to one of two IE Response pages with suggestions on how to solve the problem. Nothing yet has helped. I feel the problem started with virus/spyware infections. Any help??!! |

Hi,
You're right. It's likely that another program, probably malware, is causing this problem. Start by running BHODemon 2.0 from http://www.definitivesolutions.com/bhodemon.htm The offender may simply be a BHO. Then you should also download, update and run Ad-aware, Spybot and (if running WinXP) MS Anti-Spyware (Beta.) See these sites for help: Dealing with Unwanted Spyware and Parasites: http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm The Parasite Fight http://www.aumha.org/a/quickfix.htm Malware Removal and Prevention Overview - CastleCopsWiki: http://wiki.castlecops.com/Malware_R...tion:_Overview Bugs, Glitches & Stuffups: http://www.mvps.org/inetexplorer/Darnit.html Removing Malware: http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/...moving_Malware What you can do about spyware and other unwanted software: http://www.microsoft.com/athome/secu...ywarewhat.mspx Some malware must be removed manually. You may have to register and post a HijackThis log to one of these forums for additional help. Look for the proper forum and an "Important- Read This First" message so that you follow proper procedure. * HijackThis Quick Start http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/#Top * HijackThis Tutorial and Download http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/foru...howtutorial=42 http://forum.aumha.org/viewforum.php?f=30 http://castlecops.com/forums.html http://tomcoyote.com/forums/ http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/ http://forums.spywareinfo.com/ http://www.spywarewarrior.com/index.php http://forums.maddoktor2.com/index.php http://forums.net-integration.net/ http://www.atribune.org/forums/index.php?showforum=21 Or... A legitimate program running in the background may be causing this. Disable (for diagnostic purposes) programs such as pop-up blockers, security, toolbars and other add-ons for IE, anti-virus, etc. Take a look at any program that might be interfering with IE. You may have to reinstall, or not reinstall, a program. Hi Don:
Thanks for your help....I'll print tit and see if I can follow your instructions. I do have and use Norton AntiVirus; Spybot SD; Ad-aware; MS AntiSpyware(Beta1), and; a-squared. I must have done something to allow some malware to pass through being blocked!! I'll take steps and then try the HJT log posting. Again, thanks for your input!! Richard - exRealtor Life Is Good! Hi Again Don:
Just FYI....I was just able to start going through your reply to start looking at all your suggestions. The very 1st one, " Start by running BHODemon 2.0 from http://www.definitivesolutions.com/bhodemon.htm The offender may simply be a BHO.", took me to BHODeamon home page where is states that it is no longer being updated or serviced due to a house fire. I did go ahead and downloaded it from Major geeks and it did find a BHO, one I had already disabled. It was a little misguiding in instructing how to Enable or disable them. I checked the box and then could not uncheck it. That seemed to enable it because I could not get back into my home page. Went to Manage ad-on and disabled it again there. Im going to continue with your list of suggestions! Thanks again.... "Don Varnau" wrote: > Hi, > You're right.
