Every time that I go to Download.com today using IE6, my browser
crashes. I downloaded Avant Browser, and I can use it to go to Download.com without a problem. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Thanks. DW |

Well, for what it's worth, I just tried to go to download.com, and
"Internet Explorer has developed a problem, and needs to close". Wants to send a report to Microsoft, something about mshtmled.dll. This is a new one for me. I just this morning scanned for malware, adware, trojans and viruses. Nothing found. I haven't gotten the December security updates yet, so it's not that. Maybe somebody will come along who knows something about it. charlie R "Darkwing" <Darkwing@MorganasMansionxoxoxo.com> wrote in message news:bMkpf.961$5h2.298@trndny02... > Every time that I go to Download.com today using IE6, my browser > crashes. Tried Download.com again. I got the same "IE has encountered an error and needs to close" box. I checked the information, and the Module affected is MSHMT.Dll, with a lot of other modules listed after it. Everytime I go to the site, MSHMT.Dll is the cause, but the list of other modules changes. Something else strange. I can go to Download.com from a link to one of it's pages, and click on links to other pages fine. Just not the Main Home Page link. It causes the Internet Explorer error everytime. Otherwise IE has no other problems, or slowness. There must be a known reason for this, and a fix for it. Would somebody please check out that site to see if they have the problem? Many thanks if you will. charlie R > > > "Darkwing" <Darkwing@MorganasMansionxoxoxo.com> wrote in message > news:bMkpf.961$5h2.298@trndny02... > > Every time that I go to Download.com today using IE6, my browser > > crashes. (E.g. doubleclick on the Internet zone icon in the Status bar > and then click Default Level and High (or press Alt-D and CursorUp.) > I have ZoneAlarmPro, and Internet Zone security is always set to High, except for trusted sites. Download.com has always loaded with the High setting. I set it to low for downloading only. (and scan the file afterwards) After much unchecking and rechecking of settings in ZAP, I've discovered that Ad blocking causes I E to use 70-90% CPU, and it freezes, with the error , Module MSHTML.DLL. (After it freezes, I can't click on the Internet Zone Icon in the Status Bar. WinTop still works, tho.) ZoneAlarm also still works. Only IE has the problem. This must be caused by the last two Internet Explorer Critical updates. I hope this doesn't happen on any other sites. I really don't like to allow ads. Thanks for your interest. charlie R > > --- > > > |
