At this point I honestly don't know what I have checked or unchecked to cause
IE to close the window I am browsing and open an entirely new window when I click on a link. At the same time it wipes out my history and I can not go back to a previouse page. This does not happen all of the time so troubleshooting is really frustrating. Any ideas would be helpful! Thanks, -- KMK |

Have you installed the Dec update? I have a similar issue
(http://groups.google.com/group/micro...ab3463b3e7dff8) - I wonder if it is related. Also which OS are you using? |

I am using XP SP2 and IE6 SP1 Amanda & Adrian "Uab" wrote: > Have you installed the Dec update? Uncheck "Reuse windows for launching shortcuts". Also, if you have Yahoo Companion, Google toolbar, MSN toolbar, a firewall, Earthlink (or another pop-up blocker) My IE2 (a shell for IE) etc. Yahoo Companion is a very common cause. You'll have to turn off the feature that's blocking new windows or, perhaps, uninstall the program (especially uninstall Yahoo Companion). With some programs of this type, using Ctrl+click or Shift+click will allow a new window. If you're *sure* that another program isn't causing this, these links may help. http://www.mvps.org/sramesh2k/IEFAQ.htm Tips #21 & 46 http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=281679 http://www.fjsmjs.com/OE/nolinks.htm http://www.mvps.org/inetexplorer/ans...htm#hyperlinks http://www.mvps.org/inetexplorer/answers.htm#new_window -- Frank Saunders, MS-MVP OE Please respond in Newsgroup only.
