Using Windows XP initial problem was connecting to the internet. Also had
difficulty loading some software, and cannot run command prompt to test pinging. Message appears as follows: c:\windows\system32\command.com c:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and MS windows apllications. Any ideas as to what this is and what I need to do? |

It's not command.com (a 16-bit DOS shell) that you want to Run... it's cmd.exe (the NTx command interpreter.) BTW instead of trying to diagnose basic connectivity problems manually like that use XP's network troubleshooter tool. E.g. press Win-F1 and search for "network diagnostics". Click on that item when it's found. Etc. Good luck Robert Aldwinckle --- |
