Whenever I type an address in the address bar in IE and press enter, it
launches firefox and the page loads in firefox. How do i stop this and revert to normal behavior? I did all the trivial / usual checks -> check IE is the default browser, reinstall IE, etc., removing firefox (in this case i get an application not found error) , unchecking allow 3rd party extensions in IE settings, So far nothing seems to work. Can someone please help?? |

The default browser tool stopped FIREFOX from opening up. thanks a lot,
but still any time i type a web address and hit enter / press go , or open an item from the favorites menu, it always opens in a new window. Any way i can suppress that? Thanks a lot for taking the time to provide useful results. Thanks Vincenzo.
Also pl. see http://groups.google.com/group/micro...ae389a8040aeae I have my comp. set to auto updates. 2 patches - hot fixes that i received have caused this problem. I removed them and it worked fine. I'll try reinstalling the patch and making the change you've mentioned. I hope MS fixes the hotfix soon. Cost me the whole morning!
