I'm working on my friend's computer running Windows XP IE SP2. She can dial
up but then not access any sites. It always says Can not find page. I ran Ad-aware and her McAfee with no luck. I read through this newsgroup and read about repairing your IE, so I did that with no luck. I installed Firefox on her computer but it told me something about not having a third party host (sorry, didn't get to read the whole thing.) So firefox does not work either--can not load page. Any other ideas? Thanks! |

Hi,
Try this: Log on as an administrator. From Start> Run, type cmd, and then click OK. At the command prompt, type the following, and then press ENTER: netsh Winsock reset Also try... Turn on the Windows firewall and disable a third-party firewall if you're running one. Disable third-party security or ad-blocking programs, toolbars, etc. Other possibilities http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/answers/16.html Hope this helps, Don [MS MVP- IE] "bossneedshelp" <bossneedshelp[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:01DFEA9F-F8AD-4EC8-890B-5733CE4ADAC6@microsoft.com... > I'm working on my friend's computer running Windows XP IE SP2.
